The UltraClean™ Fecal DNA Isolation Kit is designed to isolate cellular, PCR quality genomic DNA from stool samples, dried fecal samples, droppings, forensic samples, and gut material. The kit also ensures removal of humic acid inhibitors of PCR from the starting sample.

Fecal material is added directly to a bead beating lysis tube. The addition of a lysis solution, bead solution and Inhibitor Removal Solution allows for efficient cell lysis. The prinicipal is to lyse the microorganisms in the fecal samples by a combination of heat, detergent, and mechanical force against specialized beads. The cellular components are lysed by mechanical action on a vortex using a specially designed MO BIO vortex adapter. From the lysed cells, the released DNA is bound to a silica spin filter. The filter is washed, and the DNA is recovered in certified DNA-free Tris buffer. This kit has been used by numerous law enforcement agencies, zoologists and forensic scientists.
