強度高，重量輕。復合絕緣子的強度重量比很高，即比強度很高。其高機械強度源于玻璃鋼芯棒優(yōu)異的機械性能，目前被大量采用的玻璃鋼引拔棒的拉伸強度可達1000MPa以上，而芯棒密度僅為2g/cm3左右，因此其比強度很高，約為優(yōu)質(zhì)碳素鋼的510倍。在相同電壓等級下，復合絕緣子的重量僅為瓷絕緣子的1/71/10。
