黑碳化硅是以石英砂，石油焦為主要原料，通過電阻爐高溫冶煉而成，其硬度介于剛玉和金剛石之間，機(jī)械強(qiáng)度高于剛玉，性脆而鋒利，具有一定的導(dǎo)電性和對熱性。用其制作磨具，適應(yīng)于加工抗張強(qiáng)度低的金屬和非金屬材料，如灰鑄鐵，有色金屬，石材，皮革，橡膠等，還廣泛用于耐火材料，如灰鑄鐵，有色金屬，石材，皮革，橡膠，還廣泛用于耐火材料，冶金添加劑。

Black silicon carbide is produced at high temperature in an electric resistance type furnace with quarts sand and petroleum coke as its main raw marterials .Its hardness is between fused alumina and synthetic diamond.Mechanical intensity of it is higher than fused alumina .It is brittle and sharp has electrical and heat conductivity in some degree.The abrasives made of it are suitable for working on cast iron,non-ferrous metal,rock, leather,rubber,etc.It is also broadly used as refractory material and metallurgical additive.
