The acclaimed Phoenix Music Executive Development program will be offered twice this year to meet demand. The first edition begins in Alberta in April, the second in Québec in August. The program will be presented by Alberta Music and Fondation Musicaction respectively, and is funded by FACTOR, Fondation Musicaction, and the Government of Canada.

Applications for both editions are now open. Business owners and senior executives operating music management companies, independent labels, integrated music businesses or offering label services are encouraged to apply.

“If you’re keen to grow your music business and make the most of today’s digital world, Phoenix is a great opportunity to review your business model and find new ways forward” said Carly Klassen, Executive Director of Alberta Music.  “[translation] This program allows us to take the time to think about our business and its growth, to identify its strengths, the challenges it faces and share thoughts about how to take it further”, tell us Steve Jolin, President of 7ième Ciel Records, who participated last year.

“The training is intensive, offered in short bursts over a four month period and becomes progressively more personalized over time,” said Program Director Mariel Beros. “Phoenix is designed for time poor working professionals. We’ve had some great outcomes using this approach. Alumnus David Morgan, the co-manager of international sensation Tones and I, is applying lessons learned at the program not only to the global release strategy for his artist, but to the growth of his company as well. ”

Canadian Alumni report significant changes to their outlooks and businesses:

“…The program was incredibly valuable – being with a small group that were open + engaged in a setting away from daily life was great. The content was intense and mind blowing and will impact how I proceed from here. Advisors complemented each other and were all amazing.”

“Phoenix has changed how I think about income, productivity and my team. This change has already increased sales, streamlined staffing and produced future planning.”

“The advisors involved in the program were exceptional. The community that it developed within the attendees was really awesome!”

Entry to Phoenix is competitive and based on an applicant’s professional achievements. All coursework will be conducted in English, but assignments can be written in French or English. There are no course fees, and the cost of air travel, food, and accommodations to attend the training will be covered by the program. All course materials and information disclosed during the program are treated strictly as commercial in confidence.

The application form and further information is available HERE.  The application deadline is February 28, 2020 for both editions.
